Special Touches

I get excited about adding special touches to window treatments to make a great project even better. It’s like the icing on the cake. This month, each of my favorite projects has something extra special. Maybe that’s why they’re so memorable.

Favorite Project #5

This front room and dining room project is one I’ll never forget for several reasons. To begin with, the fabric is absolutely stunning. The leading edge tassel trim with coordinating tie backs really makes a statement. And the floral medallion tie back holder is the icing on the cake, don’t you think? The custom finished hardware complements the fabric beautifully too. Besides being able to match the finish perfectly to the fabric, having custom hardware means that the rods are all cut to the exact length, so you don’t have to deal with those telescoping rods they have in the big box stores which produce an unsightly seam, or what I call a hump, in the middle of the rod.

Favorite Project #6

There’s something so cheerful about an aqua and coral color palate. The client for this project wanted something colorful to match some accessories she already had. The drapery panels frame the sliding glass doors from the living room to the porch. They also carry around to the dining room. Take note of the extra details like the aqua leading edge banding and the cute button accents—those are icing!

For a little something different, we put woven woods in the nook by the fireplace. The shades filter out the light a little, and the wood tone adds warmth. Can you spot the icing? That edge banding that makes them look so classy.
