The 2018 Pantone Color of the Year is

Purple, specifically Ultra Violet. How does Pantone choose this color and how can you use it in your house?

Pantone sends approximately 10 people around the globe for weeks at a time looking for colors signals. They see the signals in food, cars, cosmetics, clothes, and housewares. Once they get back together they review their findings, analyze it and voila, Ultra Violet.

Purple is a complex color because it takes two colors that are opposite, blue and red. When combined you get a totally new color, purple. According to Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute purple “communicates originality, ingenuity, and visionary thinking.”

How can you incorporate this color into your custom window treatments, bedding, cushions, and shades here in Raleigh? If you’re new to the color purple you might want to start off with some accent pillows on a neutral background. They can be placed on a sofa or chair. Want to be a little more daring with the color, you can use it as an accent on draperies, or cording/trim on pillows.

If you love purple now is the time to really show it. Your bedding is a great place to showcase this color. Patterns or color blocking is a way to bring purple into the room without drowning it in color. Choosing color shades can also bring a sense of originality into a family room or a child’s room.

For those that are madly in love with purple, you can paint your walls purple and then select custom draperies that will accent your wall color choice.
